Reynolds Number is used to determine flow patterns of a fluid flow, in fluid mechanics. This is a dimensionless quantity. By, definition it is the ratio of the inertial forces to the viscous forces. The calculated value of Reynolds Number can be used to determine whether the fluid flow is turbulent (not smooth, chaotic fluid motion) or laminar (smooth , constant fluid motion). Higher value of Reynolds Number leads to turbulent flow whereas lower value leads to laminar flow.
